Currently the Balañá archive is preserved in the IDEAL building (196-198 Wad Ras St.). One of the most complete testimonials from the Spanish film distribution industry. Drawings, documents, plans, correspondence and memorabilia are part of the ending analog environment in which the entertainment industry was conceived.

In 1917 the Ideal Cinema, popularly known as «El Rellis” – due to the old skating rink that was located in this same place – became one of the most important neighborhood cinemas in Barcelona. In addition to the film exhibition, various cultural, social and political events took place there.

…traces patterns of institutional rupture around its own context and history, the unfolding of which is only possible by way of a demystification of the notion of patrimony.
Such is the ambivalent nature of the archive, which becomes most evident when archeology and history adopt programmatic narratives of life and death or greatness and decadence.

Musical drifting #5, U.S. Coast Guard Band and local hip-hop artists Foundation Movement.
Extended set by the accomplished 55-piece US Coast Guard Band, which played, among other pieces, the national anthem, “America the Beautiful,” and “Ready for the Call” — all good fare for Memorial Day, and executed with both precision and aplomb. The band had come to Boston from the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., expressly for this performance.*1

Les Mains Sales (Dirty Hands), two orchestras facing each other whilst performing different themes simultaneously. Diálogo and Passione e Ideologia both overposed themes written by Ennio Morricone for a series based in Sartre`s theatrical piece, where arranged to generate a dense and sometimes dissonant musical experience. As the original play, this performance posed the ethical conflict or dilemma of maintaining ideological purity in the face of the praxis of real politics.
Fragment from a comprehensive documentation work in Peru, which shows simultaneous events of social and symbolic significance that occurred in the city of Cusco on October 12th. Reveals the cultural conflict between two collective bodies in relation to the Qoricancha: one in which musicians and caravans of dancers line up to represent elements of exorcized folklore and the other, a protest primarily spoken in Quechua.

Mulaló is a small town close to Cali, Colombia. Its history is linked to the Bolivarian campaign to liberate South America from the Spanish Empire. This small town of 2,000 inhabitants belonged to the former Hacienda Mulaló, on the banks of river Cauca. During colonial times there was an important slave market, and it is said that a beautiful slave conceived Bolivar´s only daughter from whom all the town´s inhabitants descent. That story is in contradiction with the academy, that assume the Bolivar´s infertility as a fact. Also, this is the place where Palomo, Simon Bolivar´s famous white horse was apparently buried in the nineteenth century..
The opening sequence is a quote of Berlanga´s Welcome Mister Marshall. The video shows us a contemporary funeral ritual that is common in Caracas´s favelas. In this case, however, it is meant to celebrate the glory and nobleness of that legendary animal. A local band plays the only martial song they barely know and there is a floral arrangement that resembles the famous Bolivarian Death War flag. The decoration was made with Little Pinocchios (a local flower) and coca leaves.
